Which big cats make the best exotic pets?

Ones that are hand reared. A big cat taken from the wild is very dangerous as a pet, as it can easily kill a person, where as a hand reared feline knows only humans and is much much less likely to injure you, and anyway, there is no point in releasing a handreared animal into the wild, because it doesn't know how to hunt and would probably die in the first week of being in the wild.

assuming this is strictly hypothetical....

if somone is asking this question as an actual way to find out which cat to smuggle in, then I would suggest they arrange to smuggle the animal in sometime during the year 2012, when they might have learned how to give that proper care. cos they are starting from zero.

that being said, a cheetah would be the best - they were kept by the egyptians a lot of the time and are generally the least dangerous of the big cats, being quite weak and having blunter claws than the other species.

exotic PET???? you refer a large cat as an exotic pet???????

these animals dont belong AS pets. they belong as WILD animals in nature or in zoos to be learned about.

why dont you think everyone has a lion or tiger BECAUSE THEY ARENT AND DONT MAKE GOOD PETS!

i work in a zoo and we have so many of our animals that DIDNT MAKE GOOD PETS

None of them do. They are wild animals and should be treated as such. They do not have the capacity to understand they are pets and will act on instinct w/o warning.
