get one of the cannondales, they are much higher quality than the trek bike you listed. You should definitely try them out before you buy them if possible.

The best thing to do when choosing bikes is to see them in person and try them out if possible.

Different weights, sizes, geometries, & parts are hard to judge on paper/in pictures. You really need to see how they feel and work together in person.

Assuming that they all fit and feel good to you, I would prefer the Trek.  I've tried riding cannondale's and just dont like their fork (the one sided fork).  It just feels funny on the trails when there are any drops over a few feet.

The components are fairly similar, so nothing that makes one bike better than the other.

You really should test the bikes, get a good feel of each one, and decide if that bike is right for the kind of riding that you will do.
