I am considering purchasing a new bike I've narrowed it down to just a few: Honda CBR 600, Yamaha R6, Suzuki GSXR600 or HD 1200N (Nightster, seat height seems perfect and it just looks great)

I am planning to test drive most of them if possible but Im looking for some prior insight. I am about 5'7" and 150 lbs. So I'm looking for one that can be easily adjusted to even if I have to one-foot or tip toe. As well the majority of driving will be in the city in moderate traffic.

I know there are distinct differences between the sportbikes and the nightster but I am eager to hear some input from knowledgeable riders.

  1. Go with the Harley.  The other bikes are too fast and turn too quickly for a new rider.

  2. My beginner bike was a Yamaha R6. Im 5'9, 125lbs, female.  Ive wrecked it about 3 times now, and broken several bones. BUt its still in one piece, even tho I may not.

  3. i think your starting off a bit high i'd go with a kawasaki ninja 650r

  4. If your going to be riding sport bikes I started out with a ninja 250 then went to a 600 katana now i ride a gixxer 1000.It is so easy to accidently stand up some 600s.the 250 is only a couple thousand used, once you have confidence then move on it beats the price of road rash or broken bones

  5. find one with training wheels...

  6. Yamaha R6

    with stabilisers lol

  7. It is not usually recommended to buy a brand new bike as a first bike when you have no experience.

The 600cc class sport bikes are fine for a beginner as long as you can ride with some sensibility and not try to be a show-off.

It would come down to a choice of which offers the best comfort for you. Performance is about the same on all but the HD.
