I don't want bashing, I don't want poking fun, I want to see pros and cons for both sides for every answer, find something positive and negative to say about each for me here, not $hitting you here... just be serious without the typical bias

2006 Harley Sportster 883C 5800km

2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 classic 1300km

Both the same money, both the same displacement, both the same power, both the same weight.

The Vulcan is efi where the sportster is carb'd pro vulcan

The sportster will be worth more for longer pro harley

opinions please.

  1. The Kwak is tempting but I would go with the 883 ! as you say yourself it will hold on to its money longer !

PS and its a Harley so it will cut down the chances of you getting jumped LOL

PPS back on line now and good to be back, Visa sorted, booked flights and will be landing in Toronto in November !

  2. Im For the 883 ! since i cant poke fun at answering by Ninja 250 !

  3. The fuel injection is nice, but carbs are usually cheaper to tweak in case of future upgrades.

I think both of these bikes will perform very similar in the motor department, ride quality and overall handling.  The vulcans engine may run a litttle smoother, but you may or may not see that as a good thing.

Over time, the sportster is going to give you better value for your money.  Sky is the limit with aftermarket upgrades on the sportster, not so much available for the vulcan.

My vote- Go Harley, from what I have read from you over the last few months, I really don't think you would be happy with the vulcan.  Maybe as a second bike, but not for your primary ride.

  4. I have never ridden a Sporty, but didn't care for the way it felt when I sat on them at the dealership. I was considering the Nightster when it first came out but purchased a Softail instead because even at 5'9" or so I felt cramped. A friend at work has a Vulcan 900 Custom and I have ridden it several times. It is a great bike, looks good and rides good. I assume you have been a long time HD rider so I can totally understand you wanting to go the Sportster route. If it feels comfortable to you or you can make it comfortable for you I'd vote Sportster, otherwise the Vulcan is a sweet bike. It just lacks the soul of a Harley in my book. Just one more remark, how did this douche bag Kyle get to be a top contributor with such ignorant narrow minded answers? Only on YA...

  5. You are the same guy whining on here about having rice grinders in the driveway and now asking if you should by another one. You know the 883 sportster is junk and you look like an idiot riding it

  6. chop out the sportster,,,,legends are built that way.......sportster is my choice of the 2  besides you can crusie any catalog and find tons of sportster stuff .....

  7. i am a harley fan but not the 883.  they are just to short.  the vulcan will probably ride better, but it won't have that harley sound.  go with the kawasaki.

  8. Both the same money? This is really easy, Sportster.

  9. Being a sportbike rider I have no clue wtf a sportster is, handling, weight. This also goes for a Vulcan.

Let be be the first to say Harley is lame, and slow. Also, science has found that riding one may decrease your IQ. You see, a Harley Davidson motorcycle gives off retardiation, similar to radiation, but it doesn't give you cancer, it just slows your metabolism: making you fatter, increase growth in facial hair, and making you pay gross amounts of money for a motorcycle that is inferior. Additional side effects are plastering your kia with HD stickers, bragging about your chrome in your office job, and wearing HD shirts to formal events.

Caution: Those exposed to HD-specific retardiation are contagous. To prevent exposure do not listen to anything they say, write, bash, or brag about.

XYZ: It's because you serious-sallys like you I like to have fun a spice it up a bit. I could care less what one guy or girl rides, as long as you don't touch my bike. I leave thoughtful and informative answers on here, check my other best answers.

BTW: I drive German, ride Italian. American cars and bikes, in my perspective, are still inferior for the cost. I will admit they're getting there. It's sad that we are the more powerful nation in the world, but had such crappy engineering still.
