  1. i would not dump it yet.  Try a load of free Ubuntu linux, it should run the old unit quite well and clean off the windows hard disk at the same time.

then give it to a church group as a net surfing tool.

    pm if you need help

  2. Go to this link, you can see how to remove it.

  3. Those aren't particularly descriptive uh... descriptions, but your husband is right: You don't want to ditch a computer that hasn't been wiped yet.  And it's probably better to just keep the harddrive.  Sounds like you're after the bigger box, although I'd imagine its more of a rectangle.  The Green stuff sounds like memory DIMMs.  You should have to disconnect some ribbon cables to get the hard drive out.

  4. its a rectangle thing. look in the front. it should be next to or fairly near the dvd/cd drive if you have one.

  7. First of all, try not to just throw away the whole thing. Some parts can be very useful to other people on low budgets, and you can make some spare change off of them. And now to answer your question lol

It should be a bigger square-ish box on the front. I'm assuming that you have another  computer, so you might be able to just transfer the files from your old computer to the new one. If you can get both of your computers hooked up to the internet at the same time, use something like TeamViewer (www.teamviewer.com). It should be fairly simple to use. You don't even need to actually install it, just download and delete after you're done. Then find out if you have any friends that have any knowledge of computers, and sell the parts on ebay or something to make some extra money. Who knows, you might even have something valuable in that computer. Just remember to restore the hard drive, or just not sell it. You don't want some random person going through your personal files :/
