I'm looking at a 1988 31' Rampage Express & a 1986 31' Tiara Express. They're both very similair but I really like the looks of the Tiara better, but it has gas engines which isn't great for my kind of range.

  1. you want a boat that best fills your needs.

you mentioned two needs:  looking good, and range.

there's really only one rational choice, and deep inside, you know what it is:  it's better to look good than to go far.

  2. I have no problem with gas engines V. Diesel, thats a trade off, but I agree I like the Tiara better.  I'm guessing it's also the better buy.

  3. look at the contender   there very nice

  4. I owned a 1989 Rampage with twin Cummins 210 hp 6BT. It was a great boat with great economy. The tiara is also a good boat but is a pig on gas, especially if it has 454s in it. The Rampages also had Volvo diesels in them and had marine gear issues, so check on them before you buy. Also get a survey and make sure the hull coring is still dry. In this day of high gas (and diesel) diesel is the way to go. It may cost more but that is more than offset by the economy of diesel, not to mention resale. That Rampage is a great dry sea boat!
