Which book has the characters Tearle Howard and Zared Peregrine?

The names of the main characters of this period romance novel are Tearle Howard and Zared Peregrine. I think it was a Jude Deveraux book. I even thought the title was "Knight In Shining Armor" but apparently it isn't. I read this book years ago and I want to read it again. Please help! I loved the story. Thank you!
