  1. into thin air

  2. Definitely the Color Purple. Catcher in the Rye is a bit out dated now, though being a teen you can identify with Holden

  3. I think "The Color Purple" is better, but both are great books.

"The Color Purple" is about a black woman who struggles with poverty and oppression.  There are themes of finding our identitity in an unfair world, and there are themes about family and female friendship.

"Catcher in the Rye" is about perspectives on the world and finding a path through life when there are obstacles and mental challenges.

    Good luck to you!

  4. They are both great books, and very different, so I would read both of them.

  5. I've never read the Color Purple, but I get the feeling that it's more of a heartlifting book than Catcher, which is pretty dour.  Catcher is kind of funny, in a bitter sort of way, and it's a really fast, easy read.  I'd say that Catcher would be better to read if you're in high school, Color Purple if you're not.

  6. Catcher in the Rye is an over-hyped piece of garbage.  Read that.

  7. catcher in the rye
