Which do you think were the most relevant (the ones you hear people reference frequently?), and which do you think were a complete waste of time?

  1. I only remember two that we read. We read The Giver (really good book!!) and we read to kill a mockingbird. I didn't like that one.

  2. Yeah the Giver, To Kill a Mockingbird, All Quiet on the Western Front (awesome book), Joy Luck Club, and Invisible Man are the ones I can remember, nut I'm going to be a senior this year so maybe a few more will pop up. Most refereed to has to be To Kill a Mockingbird, and it's not a bad book, but it makes you think a bit, especially at the end. We spent basically all of 10th grade on All Quiet on the Western front, and I'm in an Honors English class, so it must be important lol. Good luck =)

  3. It's different for each school, but here are some of the things that I read:

Cather in the Rye- Very useful, easy to read, and entertaining. It helps with symbolism and gets you to dive deep into the novel. One of my favorites.

Tale of Two Cities- Boring and long.

The Color Purple- Interesting with a lot of different themes.

Lord of the Flies- LOTS of symbolism and character development.

    Great Expectations- Long and boring.

Of Mice and Men- Very short and very entertaining. It allows you to go deep into the minds of the characters.

Jekyll and Hyde- Semi-entertaining and very useful for essays.

Anything Shakespeare can probably be referenced frequently.
