  1. For money, I think petroleum, maybe followed by industrial or chemical.

  2. Being a practicing professional chemical engineer for 15 years, I can say that I have had a lot of opportunities to select career paths and have always had a very comfortable paycheck and benefits.  Additionally, there is an amazing amount of versatility and I have landed on my feet when the manufacturing company I was working for didn't work out and I was immediately able to change gears and go into consulting.

I credit the extra chemistry knowledge that other engineers are not exposed to for the versatility.

  3. Civil, software, telecom

  4. computer, mechanical, civil, structural engineering have the most jobs and are the most sought out

  5. I went chemical because I heard it was the most versatile.  That was 20 years ago...but I now make six figures and enjoy my work.  COmputer may be the way to go today.

  6. I got my degree in electrical I work for the government as an aviation engineer. But I could have gotten a degree in mechanical, structural, aerospace, computer or physics and still work for the same organization. A buddy at my job is a chemist also he does fuels.

So it doesn't really matter what you get a degree in, it only matters what field you go into after college. And if I could recommend a field to work after school I'd suggest the energy field. I know two guys that work in the energy field one's a petroleum engineer for exxon and the other's a power systems engineer for a utility company they both make a descent living.

  7. My brother is going into engineering and i have had to hear a lot about it. There is mechanical, electrical, computer, ceramic. Those are popular, but here is a link that may help. Good luck!!
