Which brand for a laptop?

I need to get a laptop for school.

My home computer is a Gateway. And I was recently given a Dell. I have never had good luck with Dells and this one is no different.

I was wondering which brand I should go with, and if anyone has SPECIFIC recommendations.

I want to stay away from Dell.

And I have been looking at HP so far.
