Which brand of digital camera is the best?

Best for what? Shooting pictures of pets, people, kids, best for professional photography... what are you asking?  You won't get a right answer asking a question as broad as that.  Narrow it down.  Every camera is good in some areas that another one isn't.  The craziest part about it is that even in the same brand some are better than others in certain areas.  Just so you know, every big name camera company has put out at least one piece of c**p camera model.  Quite a few of the people on here only know the one camera that they've bought, and you'll see that they're boasting one specific type of camera.  Remember, if you go to a store, ask thorough questions and you'll get thorough answers.  Find out whats best for you.

I'm personally not the best with electronics, so I always go

and talk to the experts who work in a electronics store- future shop, or store that is similar. That way you can take to expert that knows all the information on cameras!

It depends of course on the budget and on what type of camera you are looking for (compact point-and-shoot, DSLR etc). For compact point-and-shoot I personally like the Canon IXUS line, for example IXUS 70, 75, 80 etc. In the US, they are called Powershot SD1000, SD750, SD1100.

Canon makes great DSLRs to - in medium/consumer level - EOS400D/450D (US: Digital Rebel XTi/XSi), and in the pro level EOS1, 5, 40 etc.

Nikon also makes really good DSLRs.

But a short answer, since I guess that you are looking for a compact one - pick up a Canon SD1000 or similar! Great features, easy to use, great quality, low price.

Nikons are really good.  The Nikon D-40 is an amazing camera and takes crystal clear photos. It's one of the best cameras out there right now. If you want a really good digital camera I suggest you get a DSLR (digital single lens reflex). They will take better pictures than a normal little cheap point and shoot camera.

From my experience I recommend Sony! It gives you nice clear pictures. They are truely beautiful! :)
