  1. dont get surftech they r  really homo.

rusty r ok but like sum of the others said al merrick make some siik boards.

if ur looking to spend alot more get a firewire or an asio board. but those two boards are ranging from $950-$2500 aussie dollars.

  2. Channel Islands surfboards r my favorite, but u need a little experience to use a shortboard so i would recommend a surftech long board u might want to get a softop of a surftech one too since ur just starting out ive used those before and theyre really convenient u dont have to apply any wax so i would say that out of ur choices that would be the best

  3. i'd go for the Al Merrick

  4. support your local shaper. he'll tell you everything you need. surfing's not about brand names.

  5. i like rusty and also Al Merrick makes really good shortboards

  6. I don't know all of the manufacturers you have listed here, but I do think you need to understand that surfboards that are hand shaped (even if by most big manufacturers) are a much higher quality product than molded, mass produced pop-outs. Of course, if you are really new, a cheap, floaty pop-out is probably okay to learn on (heck, even a soft top is good to learn with). When you get the feel of the things, a surf shop can steer you toward a real board, that is appropriate for your size and skill level. Check out the links, one explains what a "pop-out" is, and the other names mass produced Chinese made boards.

No matter where you surf, there are probably a couple local shapers who turn out a quality product, so check out your local shops before you get too hung up on brand names.

Good luck. Oh, by the way, Rusty is a big manufacturer, but they shape quality boards.

  7. I'd stay away from Surftech unless it's got the vent system to let the epoxy vapors escape. All the boards that you list are great boards. If you're new to surfing, stay away from the pointy nosed, thin, boards. Opt for a funboard that will be easier to paddle and maneuver. You'll catch more waves and improve faster.

  8. I have acouple rusty boards and they are sick, but it's not the brand it's the board

Rusty could put out a totally awesome board for somebody then the next board design that is made could totally suck

  9. Rusty isnt bad but if ur gonna be serious about it... get a Channel Islands board.... big variety, a lot of pros use em, and theyre high quality boards
