Which breeds more frequently/is easier to breed: Finches or Budgies?

Question

I teach grade 6 Science and want to show my class the life cycle of a bird. incubation hatching etc. I had a cockatiel growing up so I have experience. Which breeds more frequently/is easier to breed: Finches or Budgies? Don't worry I will make sure all babies get new homes and all profits go to books.

It depends on the species of finch. Some finches are extremely difficult to breed while others seem to be far too prolific. In my experience, society finches try to nest more but frequently are so overzealous that the nesting is unsuccessful. Zebra finches are very easy to get to breed and successfully raise babies.  Parakeet budgies are not particularly difficult to breed in the right environment, but they do best when given a large space and kept in groups.  No birds are likely to breed in a small cage or around a lot of noise and activity. finch breed easier and sooner then parakeets. Parakeets take more time to get to know each other then attracted ect. Finch readily breed and raise babies alot more and faster.

i would say budgies.Breeding budgies is easy, as long as the proper environment and housing are provided. Budgies normally breed best in the spring and early summer. There are two ways to breed your bird: selective cage breeding or colony breeding.

Selective cage breeding involves a single cage with one pair of birds per cage. This way, the father of the newborns is assured and you can attempt to pass on specific positive traits. Once the birds are placed together in a cage, a budgie nest box is attached. These nest boxes are available in many different styles at pet stores. It is very important that a nest block is also available. This is a piece of wood with a concave section carved out, in which the hen can lay her eggs. Without proper housing and nest boxes, budgie breeding is difficult, if not impossible.

The other breeding method is colony breeding. This type of breeding is best done in an aviary.
