I'm making a list of bulb plants I want from a catalog, but I'm having a hard time choosing which ones to get so I thought I could make my decision easier by knocking off the plants that were the least attractive to bumblebees. I don't know the botanical names for the plants, only what the catalog has them listed as. Here's my list so far:

1. Delft Blue Muscari Mixture

2. Galanthus Snowdrops

3. Leucojum Snowflakes

4. Tête à Tête Narcissus

5. Lilac Wonder Tulip (it lists this as the wild flowering form of the garden tulip)

6. Snow Crocus Mixture

7. Helleborus Orientalis

Thank you!

  1. Just FYI -- helleborus orientalis is not grown from a bulb, but from division or from seed.

I have found that the most bee friendly flowers are taller varieties of allium, a member of the onion family. Allium purpureum, allium globemaster and allium giganteum are three great ones and you will love having these big round flowers in your garden every spring.
