  1. well you can take line 305 (which starts at the Blue/Green Line

    terminal (at Wilmington/Imperial

and does stair step routing (it winds around parts

of  watts,(Wilmington, Century, Manchester, Broadway, Vernon,,Crenshaw, pico, San Vicente .Sunset to UCLA

before it gets to UCLA yes it one bus but the trip would take

a little over a hour (depending where you board the bus)

line 305 would cost you $1.25

as for the Big blue bus yes they service both downtown LA and UCLA but its not the same line (you would need to transfer at Santa Monica and Bundy that  the #10 yes it goes

to downtown Santa Monica from downtown LA

and cost would $1.75 +.50 cents for a transfer for total of

    $2.25

but for 3.50 you can get an all day express day pass for

the big blue buses (I'm assuming you want to return the same day)

then you wont need a transfer

I just reread your info (thought you meant SOUTH LA)

if you are close to Veniice blvd you could take a Line 333 to

to either National/Venice and transfer to Santa Monica line 12 to UCLA or to Durfee (Sepulveda/Venice and transfer to  Culver city line 6 to  UCLA

cost for this routing is $1.25+.30 for transfer to the other bus carrier
