There are a few studies conducted each year, electing the best employers in Canada.  It is a good place to start but not very reflective.  I have worked for one of the companies on the top 100 list and they were horrible to work for!!!

Ask the opinion of people who are working in the field that you are interested in.  Look at total compensation ($, benefits, perks, employee charters, profit sharing, RRSP matching, Health & Safety programs, EAP and so on).

I am blessed to be working for what I consider to be one of the best manufacturing companies in North America (Magna International).  However, that is based on my personal experiences, values and what I like in an employer.
