Which calculator is better for college, a TI 89 or TI 84?

I'm going to major in biology and I'm not exactly sure as to what kind of calculator is better.

  1. TI 89 is more advance, allowing you to do more types of complicated problems without really having to figure it out.  


  2. If you're a bio major, I highly doubt you need either of those.  I'm a bio major at USC, and I haven't needed anything better than an ordinary pocket calculator. I know for chemistry classes here, we're not allowed to use graphing calculators (we have to use Casio FX-260); in math class, we're not allowed any sort of calculator (though the TI-83 comes in handy for hw); and for bio, we never even needed a calculator. I would just buy the cheaper one; if there's no diff in cost, then get the 89 just because it has more functions in case you need them.  

  3. ti 89, even though its more expensive, it can allow u to solve calculus problems unlike t184

  4. TI 89 has more functions and is a bit easier to figure out and use.

    Yes, it's a bit more expensive, but usually more versatile and is easier to take from course to course.
