i think the egg. because the chicken

cant just pop out of nowhere. it was

probably a mistaken egg from another

creature and hatched as a chicken.

The chicken, because the what would hatch the egg in the beginning. Of course the chicken might have been something else born with a genetic defect that made it a chicken, so it also may (but doesn't seen reasonable) have been the egg (but not a chicken egg since the first chicken is not hatched yet).

I think that an original species related to the hen  evolved to lay eggs. As time goes by, the species laying the egg will slowly evolve into the chicken we have today.

If you're looking at it from a Christianity point of view, I'd say chicken because god would make a chicken to lay the egg.

the egg, all chickens come from eggs and new species come from evolution. (its the truth) so an egg could be created without a chicken.
