Which came first the chicken or the egg ?

Put simply, the reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life.

Therefore the first bird that evolved into what we would call a chicken, probably in prehistoric times, must have first existed as an embryo inside an egg.

i agree with ayo and yooper. the bible says that God created the animals first then they multiplied. so the chicken came before the egg.

well looking at evolution, we all came from the earliest form of life on earth which is beleived to be bacteria (i think) and they didnt lay eggs and eventually evolved into chickens which evolved into laying eggs :P thats my input of it lol

if you are smart, its the eggs.

think about it. chickens are obviosly not the first organisms to have eggs. (think dinasours) and no matter what you believe, they came before chickens, so eggs came before chickens.

funny thing is, nobody goes for that answer, even though it makes perfect sense.

god didnt create nothing --- its all about evolution..so if it was god then who the h**l made the dinosaurs?? god wasnt even around then...duh

id say the chicken was first ..although the chicken was some sort of weird prehistoric chicken and eventually became what we know as a chicken

i believe in evolution so whatever the prehistoric version of the modern chicken came first and it developed/evolved over time then they all lay eggs and so before the perfect modern chicken was born it must have come out of an egg right?

Well obviously the egg came first because there were eggs before chickens evolved into chickens.
