okay i'm still in the process of buying a camera. I think I want to buy a manual camera. which name brand is better for producing quality pictures. i hate grainy pics..and that's what my camera does now no matter how much i adjust it. i have a sony.

Also, I'm buying a 35 mm film. if you have a direct link to a good camera that would be greatly appreciated to. thanks!

  1. Well the camera that has the most good used lenses, Nikon wins this hands down ... all but a few of the fisheyes made since 1959 can be used on Nikons.  Canon can use any EF lenses made since 1988.

Look for a good used 35 mm Nikon or Canon SLR on craigslist ... you should be able to find a good one, under 15 years old with a standard zoom for under $200 ... usually from $50 to $150.

Link to a sample in my area.

Both Nikon and Canon are excellent cameras ... which you choose will have more to do with your style of shooting, the way the cameras fits in your hands and what is available in the time frame you have to purchase the camera before your class starts

  2. the quality of the picture also depends on the film.  Nikon is very good for film.  there's a plethora of used nikon lenses to buy at your local pawn shop.  Personally, I prefer canon products.  Their digital imaging is far superior to Nikon, and I can use old Nikon lenses on my Canon body.  Why not take the best of both worlds?
