Which candidate would be down there, rolling up his sleeves and helping people, making sure they got what they needed? Or which candidate do you think would tour the area and use it as a sound bite?

  1. I don't think either one would bother getting their hands dirty if you want the truth. I'm sure McCain has lived in as bad of conditions as New Orleans during Katrina. I am equally certain that Obama has not.

  2. It`s irrelevant at this point because they are not presidents yet, They can help with their influence if need be, but it is more a local issue right now if and when it becomes an issue.

  3. Well seeing it requires the efforts of local, states and federal government departments you question is stupid.

Maybe you like Obama's sound bite from today?

Obama said he might visit storm-damaged areas once "things have settled down."

Obama said he saw no problem with Republican rival John McCain's trip Sunday to Mississippi ahead of the storm's landfall. "I'm assuming that where he went, that wasn't an issue," Obama said.

"The thing that I am always concerned about in the middle of a storm is whether we are drawing resources away from folks on the ground," he said, referring to the security demands his traveling entourage makes on local police and other officials.

Why couldn't Obama simply respond to the question with a simple "What either John McCain or I do today is not important. What is important is the people who live in the areas that are under  threat of hurricane Gustav"

Why does the Obama campaign so say many stupid comments they wish they didn't make

  4. McCain and Palin are already making plans to go.

    ><

  5. Obama would, no doubt, tour the area and try to get his face all over the news.

  6. McCain/Palin would

Obama is only sending some of his contributors down to assist; he's staying way north.

  7. Obama. he is smart enough to point out that by going to a potential disaster area, he is draining resources needed for the people who live there -- and by going, the candidate becomes the story. McCain and Palin-- ummm who is paying for the security needed for their jaunt to Mississippi area?? Is the McCain campaign paying -- and also providing the manpower.

A REAL leader knows enough to step back and say "This isn't about me." Ummmm McCain? No

Obama is organizing his supporters to provide what the people need -- as he said, it's stupid to gather stuff that can't get to the site.

Obama is the kind of leader who can think -- not about the sound bite, but about the people!

  8. I'd trust Obama, if only cause his mind is more agile.

I'd expect McCain to act like Bush.  Bumbling, incoherent and incompetent.   The guy doesn't even know how many houses he owns.....but he's supposed to lead during an emergency situation?

  9. McCain / Palin would respond to disaster - be at the heart of the matter - picking up debris, talking with the locals, making a difference.  Obama/Biden would talk about the disaster and the why/why not's it's happening without doing anything about it.
