Now that the Conventions are OVER (HOORAY) who do you HONESTLY see as staying true to OUR Constitution of The United States of America.

Remember, the PREAMBLE, "WE THE PEOPLE".........

State your Candidate, and please give something valid, as to how they will follow the Constitution and place The People back into how Government is ran.

  1. Yes, the answer is Obama (of the two).

McCain wants to keep Gitmo open. Gitmo was purposely openedn on foriegn soil with the intention of evading US laws, including the constitution but also all the signed Geneva conventions and declaration of Human Rights (which we are signatory to).

McCain wants torture, which is a violation of the 8th amendment against unreasonable punishment.

McCain and Bush want to do warrantless spying, which is a violation of the 4th amendment.

McCain will likely continue Bush's theory of the Unitary Executive, which violates the separation of powers and the constitution, the latter because it argues the president can suspend all laws if he believes it to be necessary.

McCain will likely continue Bush's imprisoning people who disagree with him, which violates free speech and peacefully assemble. For example, a woman with a t-shirt that had McCain=Bush was arrested at a public speech given by McCain.

McCain supported all aspects of the beginning of Bush's war, which violated the war powers of the constitution as well as laws pertaining to the use of force in Iraq which were violated. Also, Bush spent funds that congress dedicated to Afganistan to fight in Iraq, violating separation of powers.

  2. The one who has served the United States of America, maybe? rather than the community rabble rouser.

  3. I don't see how that has anything to do with it.  It isn't the executive office's job to follow the constitution.  It is the judicial branch that is supposed to decide whether the elected officials have followed the law or not.  My impression of the office's needs is instead how the executive office interacts with the people's needs.  Will he veto the public's wishes, will  he suggest programs that enhance the nation, will he do what he can to keep the country safe, will he act in the best interests of the country or on behalf of corporate lobbyists?  That is why I am voting for Barack Obama, we simply can not allow four more years of pandering to special interest groups and mismanagement in this country.

  4. the think McCain...there is nothing in the constitution that says the US government should pay for my health care...

  5. Obama.  He taught Constitutional Law, and was the head of Harvard Law review.  (McCain was at the bottom of his class -a bully, in Military School)

McCain's contribution to the 2007 DTA (Detainee Treatment Act -as in, torture) included language that was then notably overturned by the Supreme Court.  This was the 'suspension of Habeas Corpus'.  -cited below.  You can read about McCain's contribution to the DTA in more detail on wikipedia and elsewhere.  Also in there, he also tacitly allows the CIA to torture by excluding them by the laws limitations.

AND THAT'S THE FACTS, MA'AM!  check em!

  6. McCain would. Obama already said he'd appoint judges that would rewrite the meaning of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

  7. McCain.  He will appoint Federal judges who interpret the Constitution and laws of the US, and not legislate from the bench.

  8. Uhhh the smart guy who came up from nothing.......and not the old f**t who married a rich elitist, whose only wish is to suck the money out of the American peoples pockets.

  9. They both have to follow the Constitution. why wouldn't they? and in Obama's case the Constitution can be altered or added to because they are the AMENDMENTS.  they can be changed. but i would still vote for McCain. He is the better candidate and he is promising things that can actually happen.

  10. Probably Obama - I'm not sure if he will it is just a guess

  11. Given that Barack Obama's law degree is in Constitutional Law AND that he was a Constitutional Law Professor, my guess and my VOTE will be with Barack Obama.

Who would want to preserve and protect the Constitution more than one who has spent many years studying it?

  12. McCain has voted to do George Bush Junior's bidding 95% of the time.

Junior calls the Constitution "a goddam piece of paper".

    Draw your own conclusions.

  13. Sarah Palin would overturn the sperate of church and state part of the amendment.
