Question:

Which canoe should I choose?

I recently won an ebay auction for a 16'6'' kevlar canoe. I can downsize for a price reduction to either a 15' with a single keel or a 14' with 3 keels. I decided to go with the shorter canoe because I already have 2 larger ones and I canoe solo most of the time but still want the tandem option. The 14' is also slightly deeper than the 15'. Which canoe should I select?

  1. Curious question. Modern canoes do not feature keels. The hull design provides directional stability. Keels were required on some early canoes to stiffen the bottom. Short canoes turn easily, long canoes 'track'. Your choice. Solo canoes are short. A base length is 13 ft. 2 in. Be careful, some deep canoes are not 'dry'. You need to try these canoes in the kind of water you paddle in. Check the outwales...next find out what kind of 'gunnels' are on the boats. Wood, metal or plastic.

  2. one with no holes in the bottom..................peace@love=0)

  3. it sounds like you have all the large canoes u could ever need go for the smaller one.
