Which car am I thinking of? i can't remember.?

It was a Porsche supercar that came out in the late '80's. It had a lot of advanced technology for it's time and a 0-60 time of less than 4 seconds. It looked like a Porsche 911 but I don't think it was.

Possibly the 928S GT, introduced in 1989? It had a catalytic-converted 5-litre V8.

I think you are referring to the Porsche 959.  It does that 0-60 in 4 seconds and has a top speed of 200mph.  It wasn't street-legal in the U.S., so Bill Gates (who bought one) could only drive it in a circle around his driveway on his estate.  :-P
