Alright, so my son has just turned 17 and I believe it is time for him to get a car. He has narrowed it down to these choices.

The car must be under 16,500$ ( Gas is not a problem, and insurance isn't a problem ) He has narrowed it to...

2007 Chevy Tahoe ( LT )

2007 Dodge Charger ( R/T ( NOT DAYTONA ))

2005 Audi A4

Also if you have a suggestion please POST IT! Here are the guidlines

- Year

- Make

- Model

- Model Package like ( LZ, A4, LTZ, R/T, King rance etc... )

  1. um. NONE.

No need for a Chevy Tahoe- It's hard to drive due to its size, and unless he has four children and a wife he really has no reason to even get near one.

Dodge charger was voted by consumer reports one of the worst buys list. Hm.. that should give you a hint.

The audi A4 is a nice car, but let me tell you about something that people don't understand. Buying a german car comes with MAINTENANCE, and you should not buy a used german car. ONE oil change skip, and thats all you need to start having numerous engine problems.

For that price range, go with a VW Rabbit. It has the same drive and feel and safety features of the Audi, with a smaller pricetag.

  2. Audi my man and don't look back.. Great performance and reliability for sure.

  3. $16,500 price range? 17 years old? Your son is extremely lucky.

  4. I would say buy a Volkswagen. They are reliable and good on gas mileage.

  5. I don't think you can get any of those cars for under 16.5k. I understand its going to be his car but do you really want him to be driving around in a tahoe with 7 or 8 friends in there? A charger is nice but you can rest assure that other little punks are going to pull up to a red light wanting to race him, so do you want your son illegally street racing? I would go with a Audi if you are able to find it for the price range you have.

  6. Are you out of your mind? He's a 17 year old kid! Even if he's saved the $16,500, a 17 year old kid doesn't need to own a high end vehicle, and that kind of money should go into a CD, IRA, or college tuition!  Does he know anything about money? Have you taught him how to work a budget, the importance of saving and investing? If you were to die tomorrow would he be prepared? If not then you're not doing him any favors by being his candy store.

  7. I just got a new Chevy Tahoe and I love it. My suggestion would be to spend less than $10,000 on a used car. Something that's nice and not a clunker, I had a 2004 Nissan Altima 2.5 and I loved it. I could fit friends in there, and it really had a lot of get-up-and-go for a mid-size sedan. It was also very inexpensive, I paid around $15,000 for it new in 2004. I was fortunate to find it at a left-over. When I traded it in, it was worth around $6,000. You might be able to find him something like that.

I would encourage your son to get a nice used car, and in a few years, once he's had some driving experience, to get a new car. It would be a shame for him to crash his new car, as you know cars are never the same after an accident.

  8. The answer may vary by person. It would be a good idea to hear some of them and try to choose the best one. Here is a good one.http://car-insurance.bestips.info/car-in...

  9. Best tip you'll ever receive:  Don't buy a domestic car.

If those are the only 3 he's considering, get the Audi.

The only Chevy I would ever buy would be a Corvette, and that's only because it's high end and good quality, while most Chevy's are not.

Don't even get me started on Dodge.

When I buy my first brand new car, I will NEVER buy a North American car.  They're garbage.
