For instance, would it be a Corvette? Or the 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429? Or ...?

  1. Either a 1963 split window corvette or a 1969 dodge charger daytona, 3rd choice would be a 1971 chevelle ss 454.

  2. 1970 Plymouth Superbird or Daytona Charger, with a Hemi of course.

  3. For me it would be a 1964 Shelby Cobra 427 roadster in red.

Coming in second would be a 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 "Thunderbolt" 427 also in red.

  4. 1969 opel gt.the poor mans corvette.

  5. Black 1976 pontiac trans am just like smokey and the bandit!

  6. One of those old VW vans, orange and white.  But made into a hybrid so I wouldn't pay $100 a week for gas.  Then I could haul my family around hippie-style.  That would be awesome, because regular minivans are ugly.

  7. 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS 396 Pearl Red with two Black Stripes through the middle!

  8. Mid sixties Jaguar XKE coupe, series I or II, straight six.  The most beautiful vehicle ever manufactured.

Or...a 1966 Corvair Corsa convertible with either 180 hp turbocharged engine or 140 hp with 4-1 barrel carburetors.  I'd prefer it with a limited slip differential and special order 3.73 gears.  On change would have to be made though, replace the 1966 one-piece steering column with the 1967 two-piece "breakaway" unit for safety reasons.  It was truly the American Porsche, tomorrow's car built yesterday.

Speaking of Porches, if I had to choose one, I guess I could live with a late 1960's 911 2.6, but really, deliver any version to my driveway and I'll keep it.

Maybe a 1973 Lotus Europa John Player Special.  Mid- engined, weighs less than a ton and handles like it's on rails.

Could also live with a 1968 Camaro Z-28 with the hydraulic lifter 302.  Need both the Z-28 and RS packages to get all the goodies.  Wouldn't handle as well as everything else on this list but ferocious acceleration and can rev like a formula 1 car.

For a deceptive street racer, go with the very rare 1974 Gremlin.  I kid you not, was available for one year with AMC's 401, an engine from which some serious horsepower could be drawn.  Sure, it's an awkward, goofy, nose-heavy, oddly-proportioned little beast, but like an ugly dog, loveable once you get to know it.

From Japan, an earlier version of the Skyline GT, the car that's getting a lot of attention as it finally reaches the US, but has been available across the Pacific since the 1970's.  AWD, bulletproof engine, always a couple of steps above the rest technologically.

Bottom line though, for an everday driver, I'd go with the grandaddy of the modern "sport sedan", the BMW 2002.  I owned a pair, 1970 and 1973, both base bodels, but while we're dreaming here I'll take a 1971 2002tii.  There's nothing awesome about the acceleration, handling, braking, comfort, fuel efficiency, etc.  Just a sublime combination of the essentials in a perfectly executed package.

  9. 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 or SS...one of the most beautiful cars ever made...I would be happy with a 350 or 396 cid V8..the 427 or 454 engine would be way cool..I would do a 5 speed Tremec upgrade on the transmission and probably remove the rear seat..put Recaro buckets with 5 point harnesses in there.....my second choice would be a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible..air suspension with 20 inch Daytons and Vogues on that one....green or yellow with white interior....my third choice would be a 1989 BMW 850i..black on black...sitting on 20 inch BBS rims and Pirellis.
