I am looking for a good gas efficiency vehicle and at the same time good spacing. I was thinking about a RAV4. Most of my the driving is in the city (kids activities).

  1. I have a 2007 for edge, as a foster parent of 2-4 kids it does everything I need it to it and gets 22-25mpg and has good power. the back seats are roomy and there is good cargo space. It drives like a car and it looks great. Rav4s are cramped and gutless but they are pretty reliable the 4 banger is under gunned my friend has one. it gets uncomfortable on long drives. Good Luck

  2. i dont know if you have ever thought about a van but i have kids and i have had cars trucks and vans,i think vans are the best for a family.I'm not sure if they are best on gas but for room they are.even after my kids are moved out i will always have a van.

  3. that or a sedan like a corolla or camry

  4. i would recommnd toyota prius hands down

  5. RAV4 is a good, small SUV. Try looking at the Ford Escape Hybrid which gets the best MPG for an SUV. Or, if you are willing to settle for a smaller vehicle (that is still roomy) look at:

    Honda Accord

    Toyota Camry

Both are reliable family cars that get very good MPG for their size.

  6. I am not too happy with even Japanese small, tallish SUVS. there are safer and newer platform and styles of family vehicles than that.

Go for something like a mid side car with front wheel drive, or a crossover vehicle that has newer platforms, performing much safer in crashes. Stay newer than the year 2002. Good, safe vehicles would be an Audi A6, Honda Accord, Volkswagen Passat for sure, and alike. You dont want too big, and SUVS eat gas and flip easilly, but a midsize car packs some happy measures such as being safer cuz of being heavier, not being TOO close or TOO high to the ground and yet having decent MPG or KPG. Do the research. Automotive.com has INTRICATE reviews

  7. The RAV4 is a good choice, but it's still an SUV.  I would recommend a Camry or Accord.  Even though they won't get much better mileage, they will hold their value better (even the most efficient SUVs are losing value like crazy).

If you insist on an SUV though, the RAV is a great way to go.  Sticking with Toyota though, the Scion xB may be a good choice as well.  You'd get about five mpg better, save at least $4k and xBs hold their value even better than RAVs.  Just a thought...

    Good Luck!

  8. SCION XB!!! Not the new one, but the older model. OMG, there is sooo much room in the car. The gas seems like it never runs out, kuz its such a small car, yet there is so much leg room. U should check it out.

  9. Kia Rondo

The Kia Rondo is a five-door crossover vehicle that debuted at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show. Based on the front-wheel-drive platform of the Kia Optima, the Rondo is shaped like a small minivan offering spacious legroom and headroom. Sharing engine, transmission and chassis components with the Optima, the Rondo is offered with a 162-horsepower 2.4-liter engine or a 182-horsepower 2.7-liter V6. The four cylinder comes with a 4-speed automatic while the V6 has a 5-speed automatic. Available in 5- and 7-passenger versions, the Rondo offers optional third-row seating that can fold down in a 50/50 split.

  10. The Rav4 would be a very good choice. Being a Toyota it is very reliable and therefore you don't need to worry about it breaking down.

If you are also considering a sedan, you could try the Camry Hybrid or the 2009 Corolla. Both of these are very good cars with great gas mileage. If you get the Rav4, you should probably get the one with the 2.4L 4 cylinder engine rather than the V6, that will save you some on gas.
