Question:

Which car should I use in my first rally?

I recently found out that I can participate in a rally race and I have a choice between two cars!

I drive a 1999 Subaru Impreza OBS which I feel is really great on dirt roads and has great traction because of the AWD but it doesn't have alot of power and it weighs alot (3000LBS!).

The other is a car that me and my grandpa rebuilt together, a 1986 Porsche 944S which is light and has loads of power but it's RWD. Also I wouldn't feel as bad if I beat it up, since the body was just hammered back into place! It had been in a previous rally race...

Both drive great and there really isn't a problem mechanically with either of them!

1999 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport

- 2.2L 142BHP/149FT-LBS H4 Engine

- 2950LBS Curbweight

- AWD (More Traction)

- ABS/ Four Wheel Disc Brakes

VS

1986 Porsche 944S

- Inline 4 Cyl. 188BHP/170FT-LBS

- RWD (Not as much traction)

- 2975LBS Curbweight

- No ABS

I can't decide! I love driving both!

  1. The better car to use in your choices in rally race is the Subaru Impreza. It is better because it is a Four wheel drive car or AWD so it will have more power. And the brakes are already ABS.

  2. Subraru seems like the better deal. ABS is good for Rally Racing, and AWD is also great to Subaru is what you should

  3. The Impreza,man

  4. If your not so worried about banging up the porsche definately go for the 944s. It has more HP put more importantly has more torque. You only have to worry about going into corners at a  safe speed with a rwd to power out the corners without excessive wheelspin. Keep your speed up and i bet you'll be quicker in the porsche than the subaru.

  5. Although the 944 wouldn't make a good rally car; I would like to see one.  There are too many impreza rally cars out there these days.

  6. If it's on dry pavement, the AWD vs RWD shouldn't be a big problem.

If it is on gravel/dirt, or there is a chance of rain, go with the Subaru. If it was dry pavement, I'd go with the Porsche.

Best of luck, man, either way.
