  1. A small one as it will be cheaper to run and insure for a new driver.

  2. Jetta if a TDI,reason to make biodiesel or burn WVO.

  3. s***w all those cars man if your willing to pay 8 grand for a lancer non evo then go look on ebay or craigslist for a 92 Toyota Supra. I promise you you will find a Supra with everything done to it and built motor and almost everything brand new. Trust me i did the same thing you are doing right now and guess what someone suggested me? Yep the Toyota Supra!!!!!!

  4. Civic, Impreza, and Corolla for reliability.  Avoid the Volkswagen they are prone to break down and have expensive repair builds.  Dodge neon is unsafe and overall a terrible car to drive.  The Lancer is a 50/50 chance, depends on what year, the newer ones (2002-2007??) are great.  Obviously the civic is your best shot if you want a tuner and huge aftermarket parts support.  The corolla is boring, avoid it.  I might choose the Subaru though, the Boxer engine is fast and super reliable, yet kinda thirsty (in the low 20s city).  Obviously the Civics VTEC is decent speed wise but also very reliable and super fuel efficient.  My pick? Its a toss up between the Subaru and the Civic, test drive em and pick the one with less miles, better body, and better repair history (Carfax).  Compare prices as well.  Good luck, I might suggest if you want a very reliable car and very good MPG but not so good Aftermarket wise get a Saturn SC2, the can go well over 200,000 miles and are decently fast and handle great, they also have a good fanbase (saturnfans.com).  DO NOT get the ones with the SOHC engine (SC1, SL1) go for the DOHC (SL2, SC2), much faster and same MPG's.  Just my 2 cents.

  5. the Honda Fit is very good car but you won't like it if your looking for fast getaways.

the Dodge Neon is terrible, money pit, run other way

    Subaru is vg

    Corolla reliable

    MIt Lancer very unreliable

Jetta unreliable, if you want a VW buy a NEW Jetta or rabbit

    Honda Civic bullet proof

if your an above average driver and can avoid the first car wreck syndrome I'd get the Honda Fit.

if your a wild one go with the subaru
