Which car to get: Mitsubishi Lancer or Dodge Avenger?

I don't really want to spend over 22K

I'm looking for a car with power, but also with speed

Any other car suggestions?

Either of them should be relatively problem free until you're done paying for them. I opted for the Mitsubishi Lancer myself because of the aggressive styling, the fact that it was very well equipped, and I got a slight discount... engine has an internal timing chain, aluminum block, and the interior I found to be quite roomy compared to Dodge Calibur/Avenger. (Almost all dodges now have these oversize center consoles that are killing my legs usuallly.) *shrug*, check them out, drive them. If you're worried about 'getting screwed', you're best bet is probably BMW... as pretty much everyone makes at least a few lemons... I had a 1998 neon for about 8 years, and I was quite happy with the dealer since they tend to know their problems and resolve them the first time... but... sick of leaking and burning oil, so trying Japanese this time around ;) Good luck.

Dodge will be cheaper to maintain since it is domestic. With the economy the way it is, always pick domestic.

Avenger will have a better resale value, and the Lancer is over-rated.

get the Lancer over the dodge,

as far as other suggestions, if you drive in the snow get a subaru impreza
