Which car would you prefer? Volvo or Jaguar?

Question

Partner and I have a running disagreement over who has the better car so can you settle it for us.

Would you rather have....

A Volvo S40 T4 or a Jaguar X Type V6?

The X-type wins this one for me, though given the choice, anything XJ will always be my favorite Jaguar.

While I've always thought that the X-type looked a bit too much like a Ford Taurus for my tastes, after recently driving a V6 version, I must say that I LOVE the adequate acceleration and the low growl that resonates into the cabin from the exhaust. Very classy, and very Jaguar. Though the stereo and gauges were cheesy and looked stolen directly from a Ford Focus, and interior space seemed to be a bit lacking, I liked the soft, comfortable leather seats and abundance of faux wood.

The T4 S40 was a nice car with a bit of zip, but I never liked the way it looked, outside or in. I had a high school friend who drove one, and it never made much of an impression on me with either sportiness or luxury. I suppose Volvo has always been a somewhat tepid brand in that way. I am, however, a great fan of the redesigned S40 - very clean and modern. If that were the model in question, I think it would stand a better chance.

I really don't care for either but would say the Jag would be the least desirable. Jaguars are notoriously unreliable. I don't like cars that spend more time being worked on than being driven.

The Volvo would be more suited me and it would last longer, so the volvo would be the better car for me but the Jag is probably better.

a jaguar x-type is a ford mondeo... with a differant shell

a volvo is a good relaible car (because the jag will prob break down) and the volvo is safer and i think it is cheaper too...

the jag x type v6 SPORT . i agree with the mondeo comment as far as the sovereign seats go however the sport seats are a vast improvement. remember jaguar is in the same GROUP as ford its not part of the FORD franchise and its the upper end of the group although the volvo (as a car) is nice jags are reliable and stylish. volvos have no WOW factor.

a jaguar you take to a jaguar garage and spend 200 pounds getting it serviced but you can be assured it wont need to go back for another 12 months ( when it is next due a service)

if i were you i would rather drop both and pick up a couple of audi a4s . they are roomy, executive and stylish. they perform well and have a large, practical boot.
