which of these two fields do you predict will offer the best chances of financial security? consider that nursing has higher levels than beginning level rn. i'm guessing that chiropractors are typically self-employed and that a lot of insurance companies don't cover it; however, it seems to have more autonomy and status. what do you think?

  1. definately nursing, hospitals will always have patients.  if the economy doesnt turn around then ppl wont be able to afford the chiropractor, i have insurance and couldnt afford it

  2. Based on Canadian Statistics, due to the number of people who are retiring soon (due to the Baby Boom for example), there are more job openings available for the Registered Nurses. With a nursing degree, you also receive a higher wage (on average).

Being employed by a company is definitely more secure than being self-employed so I would suggest a nursing degree.

  3. I definitely think nursing.  There will ALWAYS be a demand for new nurses.  Plus with nursing experience, you can always go on to further your education, specializing in a field or becoming doctor, so you won't get pidgeon-holed.

Unless you know for sure you want to be a chiropractor, you could get locked into the area since you are specializing. Not to mention you have to get your PhD.

Also, many people regard chiropractice skeptically (including the AMA), that is why it isn't covered by all health insurances (among other reasons).  Also, there are a lot of "quack" doctor that fall under the category of chiropractor.

I don't have the data immediate on hand, but do some research and you'll likely find nursing to be either growing or remaining at a constant demand.

  4. Nursing.  That's actually helping someone.  Chiropractor is a pseudoscience that 'might help alleviate certain kinds of back pain' according to many studies.  That's about it.  It doesn't work.  Get a nursing degree.
