For a very long time I have been thinking about joining the Air Force. Now, I am in college and I have the oppurtunity to join the Air Force ROTC and become a doctor. I want to do both but I want to be sure what I am doing is the best. Should I join the Air Force? Will becoming a doctor in the Air Force be a good idea?

  1. You can try it for 2 years without an obligation. I'd suggest you do it, that way you can go to the military's medical school.

  2. ROTC is during your bachelor program.   After you are done you owe them some time...They do NOT have to send you to medical school,  they can call you up to active duty right after you graduate.

You had better do some serious research on this as doing both at the same time is pretty hard to get.   (The services have their own medical school by the way so if you get in,  you will go to their program.)

  3. I think you should join. I'mm in the air force and i love it. you can also go air national guard or reserves if youdon'tt want the full time commitment. It will benefit you greatly in your career and life in general. air force basic training will be moved up to 9 weeks instead of 6 weeks on october 1st 2008 so it will be just as long as any other branch of service.

  4. Not me personally but I know a couple of them. All the time they talk at get togathers, about the diverse of cultures of people they get to meet and heal. More so in the Air force due to the proximity of there station. they work on US and others as well and are some of the finest doctors I have ever had the opportunity-too get to know.

  5. Finish your college first and them join the Air Force as an Officer. They pay is good, the experience is GREAT and will look very admirable on your resume. Your'll also be going through some medical schooling when you join, and constantly be getting additional training after you join. The US Army also has GREAT opportunities for young officers and medical doctors.

    Good Luck

  6. I'm trying to decide about joining the military or being a civilian. Best Answer is to look to your heart and really truly decide on what you want. Sometimes a Leap of Faith is required, but its what you make of it.

  7. One of my best friends is doing the Air Force ROTC. You wouldn't believe the amazing benefits that the military has to offer! Also, AF boot camp is one of the shortest, and they give you job security for the most part.

  8. I really don't know stop in a local recruiters office and see what they say. Most military doc are not very pleasant .
