I am going to buy the good, healthy food, for my cat. I am leaning towards the Natural Balance brand. However, some say that the Wellness brand is better, but it's more expensive. Which would you choose ?.. Natural Balance OR Wellness ?. PS : One of you mentioned the site ( meow-kitty.com ). I went there, and read the articles. I was able to send in a picture of my new kitty, Mitzi. She is now featured there, in the photo gallery. IF anyone would like to see my new baby.. just go to www.meow-kitty.com and scroll down to where it says : meow-kitty's kitties, and click on it. Her picture is the last one. Just hold your mouse over the photo. It will say Keene, NH and owns by Karen W. And it has her age. Any of you, who are interested, can also send in your cat's photo. They give an e-mail address to send it to. After a couple days, your kitty will also be shown in their gallery.

  1. Both are really good foods, although Wellness is the better of the two.  But you surely won't be shortchanging your cat by feeding the NB!  I do buy their canned as one of the canned food I rotate with, and it's well liked.  If you priced the Wellness at Petco, I think you'll find that it's kind of expensive there.  If you can find it in another pet store, you might find it for quite a bit less, and then could actually feed both!   Many (myself included) believe it's really better to feed an assortment of high-quality foods.  Anything lacking in one would be compensated for by feeding the others, and if for some reason you could no longer get one brand (like last year with all the recalls!) you would just fall back on the ones you could get.  Mine do wonderfully on a combination of Wellness, Merrick, Weruva, EVO, and NB.

  2. For the dry. I'd say I'd choose which ever one I could find first. However I would buy the reduced calorie natural balance formula since that one has more meat and less carbs. I preffer Wellness canned foods though since they are all grain-free. Wellness is my cats fave. She eats all of the canned food I put in her dish.

  3. I use Eukonoba which is excellent!

  4. I'm totally sold on the Wellness line.

  5. Hi Motherlesscub!

You are on the right track to be sure in your choices of cat food brands. Both of these products are excellent.

I use both, actually. One of my cats has a food allergy and has been doing GREAT using Natural Balance venison and peas, at half the cost of the prescription brand. He loves it, has not had any allergic symptoms since we started using it.

My other cat is totally addicted to Wellness kitten food. My veterinarian has assured me that it is fine for him, since he is healthy and an excellent weight.

We are highly pleased with the grainless foods that are keeping our cats happy and healthy. So it is a toss up, and a personal preference. Either of these brands get high marks from our household and our kitties!

    Best of luck to you,

  6. Wellness is WAY BETTER!

  7. Generally speaking, Wellness is better.  However, NB is good as well, so if you go with that you'll still be doing better than 90% of the cat owners in the world.

You don't mention whether you're considering wet or dry and which varieties of each.  I would still say that Wellness is better, but within each line there are particular varieties that are better than the other.

If you want to post the specific ones, I'd be happy to give you my thoughts.

  8. if you are looking for a dry cat food Innova is a great best food. Wellness brand is good to.

  9. I would say Natural Balance (since I think I was the one who suggested to you in another answer lol). Many people are hooked on Wellness and I have no clue why because the fat content is so high! But, if people are saying NB & Wellness are about the same, why not go with Natural Balance because it costs less? (and its better!!!)
