For a platinum band engagement ring with encrusted diamonds all around the band?

The center stone must look like a knockout. Nothing tacky or cheap looking, but it will be over 5 carats.

  1. Princess cut -- it's a knockout, especially paired with a diamond encrusted band .... gorgeous.

  2. I think princess cut looks more glamorous.

I think emerald cut looks more sophisticated.

I think round cut looks for elegant.

  3. My favourite cut is a round, because it has the most sparkle, and it is the "classic" cut, so it won't go out of style.

But there is something very striking about an emerald cut solitaire.  It is very rich looking and somewhat vintage even.

Either of those would be stunning in my opinion.  I think princess cut is a little to trendy and "typical" for my taste.

  4. That's in the eye of the beholder. What one person loves, another hates. I personally prefer princess cut stones and I don't care much for round at all, but that's just me.

  5. Of the 3, the emerald cut is the oldest and has been around longest. I personally really like it, but it isn't as flashy b/c it has less facets. That said, you have to have a really high quality diamond to pull off an emerald cut.

either of your other 2 choices would be much more sparkly, if that's what you're after. A round brilliant would be just as nice as a square princess. it's a matter of what you like better on your hand. go try out a few and see what you are more comfortable with.

  6. They are all elegant - it's a diamond for pete's sake. It's just a matter of personal preference. I have a round with diamonds around the band and love it. I think it is a classic look and it is very sparkly. My friend has a princess cut which is beautiful and she loves it. I don't think the emerald cut sparkles as much and it shows the flaws more easily. But it's all about what you like.

    - 10 carats????? Are you out of your mind? That's like a 100K diamond. If you want a wow factor stay under 3 carats. No one will believe anything bigger is real and it will just look cheap and fake even though it is actually real and cost a fortune.

  7. i personally like princess cut the best, but i think most 'elegant' is round

  8. I personally think princess is more elegant.

  9. for 5 carats, emerald cut. check out harry winston.

for 10 carats, i would go royal asscher. they "face up" small but gorgeous

  10. I personally like a princess cut diamond.

  11. Clearly you're looking for the WOW Factor.  An emerald cut diamond doesn't have as much sparkle...looks like glass, whereas the princess and round stones have more facets to bounce off the light.  Princess is more modern.  The round and emerald...more traditional.  Why don't you look into the asscher cut diamond.  It is a combination of all of the above, it's gorgeous.  Regardless of what you choose, honey...you will have a beautiful ring to show off!  Best of Luck to you.

  12. What are you trying to prove.  Don't you think that 5 carats are tacky. I personally like the round cut.  The center stone needs to balance the rest of the ring out so it's according to how wide the band is and what size the remaining encrusted diamonds our that are around the band.

  13. Princess cut!  Emerald is dull and doesn's sparkle, round is too common.
