Which channel amp is better?

is a mono, 2 channel, or 4 channel better? or does it really matter how many channels?

i am hooking it up to 4 10" pioneer subs

  2. In general Mono amps are made for subs. If the subs you have are singe four ohm dual two ohm, look for a mono amp that is 1 ohm stable at the RMS rating of the sub. Just add the RMS from each sub to get the desired RMS output of the amp.

    If the subs are single 2 ohm or dual four ohm you will need to find a mono amp that meets the power requirements at a 2 ohm final load.


  3. Neither is better than the other. Each has it's own purpose.

    For subs a mono amp is best.

    Find an amp that's four times the RMS power of one of those subs (if they're identical). If those subs are 4 ohm single coil, you can get a 1 ohm or 4 ohm capable amp.
