Which charity do you not trust?

ugh....so many.....any one that gives more than 5% to themselves or marketing.....any one that has ulterior motives...i.e. one that promises to sponsor a child, but instead 'sponsors' a villiage--builds a church/temple/mosque and teaches their religion--over meeting the physical needs of the 'sponsored' child. Any org that charges thousands of dollars for volunteers to do work....

While I work for habitat for humanity, I also am disgusted that both they and the Red Cross took much of the donated money and used it in other projects, none of which benefitted the people who were supposed to receive the money/services. I don't ever give money...for those and other reasons....but I work extensively with several charities...my current personal favorite is kidsworldwide.org.

There is this website called Charity Navigator and they pretty much just do all the research on charities. They have a search area which is helpful but I think it's only for the US. A great tool if you ask me, they even have there budgets layed out for some. Here's the link

Hope For the Nations. They have group in Romania that are very corrupt and dishonest.

A charity that does not have its latest annual report on its web site. A charity that does not involve volunteers. A charity that talks about how desperate it is for funding. A charity that doesn't talk about its successes and impact on society.
