  1. Boston converted most all their elevated lines to underground. There is a stretch of the green line near Lechmere that is on a stone  viaduct. But that is in Cambridge, not Boston.

  2. Harper has a good answer except that in Philla none of the Broad Street line is elevated. The El in Philadelphia is the Market-Frankford Line. It is elevated from Bridge street to Spring Garden Street where it goes undergroung to go through the downtown area then comes up again in West Phila somewhere around 52nd street and is elevated to the west terminus at 69th street.

  3. i been on chicago, seen new yorks,  there are others like phoniex been repaired.

  4. Depends what you mean by "el train".  Traditionally that means a heavy subway system (5-10 cars, lots of doors) that also does some running on an elevated structure.  That would mean the answer to your question is:

    - New York City - Manhattan used to be covered with "El" trains, but most were converted to subway. Plenty of El lines can be found in Queens, Bronx etc.

    - Chicago (the famous Loop)

    - Philadelphia (Broad Street line near its ends)

    - Boston

    - Atlanta.  This system was built in the 1970s and small parts are "El".

    - Miami, built in the 1980s - it is an "El" because subway was not practical with Miami's high water table.

    - San Francisco Bay Area's BART system, built in the 1960s.  There is no "El" in San Francisco proper (or Berkeley) but there's plenty of "El" in surrounding towns - Oakland, El Cerrito, Albany, San Leandro, Hayward, Fremont, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord.  BART has not used elevated construction in extensions, preferring to build either in subway or in freeway medians.

  5. Chicago,NYC,SF,Boston?,Philly?
