Which city has best nightlife?

Travelling Oz next week, will be visiting sydney, melbourne, adelaide, cairns, down the east coast. Where has the best nightlife? Also from a travellers point of view, which drink would you advise to drink first to get you going? We have been advised to drink goon? Not sure if its spelt like that, coming from the UK and have never heard of that, what is it?? How much money roughly would you spend on a night out?

goon is a cheap wine, basicaly it's cheap and it'll get you drunk fast melbourne has an awesome night lifr love it, but im biased i live there, how much money you need depends on how much you drink and how far you get a taxi home

Melbourne. Though Sydney might be okay if you know where your going. Yeah dont drink goon or passion pop. They are the worst! How much you spend depends on how much you drink.

Goon is generally cask wine at about $10-$11 for 4 litres but some of it is fairly good quality despite the cheap price. I don't know what you call casks in the UK - they're the cardboard boxes with a silver plastic bladder inside. You won't be able to buy it in bars and clubs - it's strictly a party/picnic/BBQ/home sort of thing.

The cost of a night out depends on what you do, but $30 plus cab fare should buy you a reasonably good time if you're not drinking spirits.

Sydney's nightlife is best, but Melbourne's is not far behind.
