  1. Siena is as nice as a lot of other cities in Italy. Florence it's amazing. One of the most beautiful of Italy.

  2. If it were my first time there, I would go to Florence.  It would be a shame to miss the Duomo, Piazzale Michelangelo, the Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi, and the Accademia Gallery (where the recently cleaned and restored "David" is again on display.

This is not to diminish Siena, it is a beautiful place.  But if you go to Florence, you can take a day trip south to Siena and another day trip NE to Lucca.

Whatever you decide, have a wonderful trip!

  3. You will need more than a couple of days to visit everything that has to be seen at Florence, Siena is very nice but is smaller than Florence, If you could do it catch a bus and drive to Siena from Florence, you should get there in about an hour get to see everything and then drive back in Bus to Florence, you can walk around at night and still see many things in Florence

  4. ive been living in florence for the last 5 years and i can tell you that florence most of all is the largest with in the two.  it has all the main monuments, all of the historic museums, all of the well known piazzas and most of all there is life after dark.  ive been to sienna a lot of times and believe it or not but i never really like it. i mean, ofcourse its incredibly beautiful and everything but in comparison to florence its nothing.  sienna is pretty big as well but not as lively as florence, i mean if your looking for a laid back city, no commotion, no open stores after a certain hour, not that many restaurants to choose from, then go to sienna.  the only two main things youll see there in sienna is the huge piazza they have in the shape of a shell and the famous duomo and thats about it that i can recall.  in florence, there's the huge duomo, ponte vecchio, palazzo pitti, palazzo vecchio, piazza della republica, santa croce, santo spiritu, santissima annunciata, mercato di san lorenzo, santa maria novella, ecc...ecc..ecc.. and there are billions of beautiful restaurants to choose and enjoy and at night tiem there are so many free shows and parades when you dont expect them. there are also street performers around piazza della republilca.

    enjoy!
