I am a recent graduate who wants to live it up for a year in the U.S. I am interested in going somewhere that has lots to do, lots of people, a great night life, is relatively safe and has great public transportation (as I will have no car). Which city is the way to go?

  1. I hear that Denver is great for young people.

  2. SAN FRANCISCO!!!! best city in the U.S.

just remember to get stupid once you get to the yay area

  3. Austin, TX. Can't beat it.  You have the art, culture and music of any metro area (LA, NYC, San Francisco) but its in the heart of Texas, something that attracts alot of Aussies.  You have all sorts of outdoor activities within 20 mins (biking, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, frisbee golf, lake activities, fishing, whatever) and beautiful women who will be all over an Aussie accent.

Texas isn't known for its public transpo, but if you have a bicycle you can get around just fine in Austin.  You can probably get one in Austin for 100 bucks off Craigslist.

Downtown is great for nightlife, women, music, food, whatever.

    Look into it.

ps I met Delta Goodrem (one of your compatriots) when she lived there

  4. Seattle, Washington

Hit downtown Seattle after dark and watch a new dimension of the Emerald City unfold. Patrons have their pick of friendly pubs and chic cocktail bars, as well as theaters, comedy clubs and concert halls. As a hotbed of the music industry, the city attracts numerous concerts, from the mainstream to the avant-garde. Headline shows appear at the Paramount Theater and Show Box at the Market, and Neumo's maintains an impressive lineup of alternative rock acts. In historic Pioneer Square, bars and clubs like Central Saloon and Old Timer's Cafe now occupy the old storefronts, where a blue-jean clad crowd comes to throw back drinks and hear live bands.

Seattle is a medium sized city of over 570,000 people. The city has a compact downtown core that is very walkable and full of attractions. The city is also in many ways a "City of Neighborhoods," and there are distinct cultures in many districts outside of the downtown core. The crime statistics show that Seattle is relatively safe for its size.

  5. Los Angeles or New York.

    You'd love it.
