Probably Perth, then you could get fly in fly out work to the north where the construction industry is booming.

The resource boom is in Perth not Brisbane. It is really difficult to get a contractor right now since they are all so busy. Also many have left to work up north in the mining industry.

Friends have said that if they called 10 contractors to do something at the house, they would be lucky if 1 showed up to give them a quote. There is also a building frenzy. Those that cannot afford to buy a new house have to fix their old one. This also goes for the larger commercial builds. The government has been putting up new bus and train stations and basically overhauling the city.

Living standards. Not lived in Brisbane but I can say that Queenslanders are sometimes just so weird! :OP Love Perth for the weather and the food. Great place for kids to grow up.
