Hello! I am a 22 year old American girl who just spent 6 months living in Paris and completely fell in love (w/ Paris and Europe in general). Now I have the opportunity to move to England and I'm trying to decide where to go. I do prefer city life, but I thought London was maybe a bit too big/hard to feel at home in..? I'm just looking for a place where I can meet people, have fun, walk around easily...any thoughts? Brighton? Manchester? London?

  1. I've got to say Manchester! cause thats where I'm from.

  2. Manchester is ace!!! :-D

  3. London can be difficult to feel at home in, but it depends where you go. Areas like Hampstead, Richmond or Islington are a few of the better options. You'll meet plenty of people and be able to have fun whilst feeling at home.

Otherwise, go for Brighton. It allows you to be right by the seafront as well as surrounded by shops, restaurants, good work oppurtunities and plenty of people.

  4. I'd say go to liverpool.  The people are sooooo friendly and you get some good shops and bars there too :)

  5. I think you should move to Scotland/Edinburgh.You will find the people much more welcoming/friendly x

  6. s***w england, move to soviet russia

  7. if you like all different cultures move to london, if you like asians move to birmingham, if you like rough places move to manchester if you like white people move  further up north. am frm liverpool, well a few miles away frm it and it is a nicve place, got nothing on london though

  8. If you want a scenic-place to live WITH people close-by I would recommend Wales; NOT Just because I live there but Scotland can be hard to Commute around...

I think... Scotland IS a beautiful place but because Wales and Scotland are so mountainous it tends that it rains alot because the sea air rises and persperates here. Oh well...

Wales has it's own unique language but It's always acompanied by English. If you move to England and come here then i'd recommend trying to pronounce the names right, (lol) Cymru-Wales

    Cymraeg-Welsh

    Yr Alban-Scotland

    Lloegr-England etc...

    Prin hawn da?-How are you?

    Shwmae - Hello/Dear-in letters

    Hywl Fawr-Good Bye

    Diolch-Thank You etc...

    Draig Goch - Welsh Dragon

Hope it helps or inrests any Americans wanting to learn a Celtic language :- )

    Thanks*!!-

  10. London, without a doubt.  It is where everything is, culture; theatre; shops; art galleries; museums; places of interests, etc.,etc.  Hampstead has hampstead Heath; St Joh's Wood has Regent's Park; Richmond has Richmond Park for walks or just to lose yourself for soul searching.

    You will not regret it.

  11. Chester is a nice city - its not far to Manchester or Liverpool but its a lot more relaxed there I think - lots of nice shops, pubs, bars, restaurants, a nice river to sit by in the summer, there is also a racecourse which holds some really good days....I could go on but you can see for yourself!

  12. Manchester
