I was thinking about signing up for the oppurtunity to live with a host family and learn Spanish in Spain for a couple of weeks with a company called don Quijote. I have the choice of visiting Barcelon, Granada, Madrid, Valencia, Tenerife, or Salamanca. Which city would you choose and why?

  1. I've only been to Madrid and Barcelona, but I would reccomend Madrid.  Many people in Barcelona speak Catalan, so you would probably be learning Catalan with a host family.  I would reccomend Mardrid language-wise, the language is generally easy to understand.  I'm used to Spanish from Latin American countries, and I understood.  Both cities are very nice, though Barcelona probably has more from a cultural aspect.

  2. For me the best is:

Madrid - Because is the capital of spain and it´s full about things to do, visit museum, gra via, retiro park...

Granada - for me is the more beautifuld city in spain also the food it´s really good and cheap. you can taste tapas and beer. Click up más informacion...

  3. Granada is a perfect city for tourism. It has airport and you can go directly there.

There are lot of students from all around the world and Spain in Granada University.

You can find near the city (not more than 1 hour by car) Sierra Nevada wich is a great natural site where you can practice ski in winter. Also beach is at same distance, with beautiful villages like Salobreña or Almuñecar.

In Granada city you can visit the Alhambra Castle, one of the most beautiful monuments in the world. Also Granada is cheap and with lot of night life everyday of the week.

  4. 1. Madrid

    2. Barcelona

These are the 2 greatest cities in spain in terms of nightlife, history museums, people, architecture, etc.... Madrid is THE spanish city, Barcelona is a great city in general.

  5. Salamanca or Granada!

Barcelona is not the real Spain, and people there will tell you that you are in Catalunia. And it is expensive.

Madrid is the capital, but very big. Still, it has its great sides, too.

Tenerife is beautful, but too touristy and you are stuck on an island.

Valencia is big and more of a port city.

Granada is in the south and one of the most beautiful town to be in, Salamanca is north of Madrid, and aswell, very beautiful.

If you chose a city, remember, you will always find the time to go and visit the others. It is cheap to fly now in Spain, so you are not going to miss out the sights.

  6. BArcelona or Valencia should not be your choice - Most families will speak Catalan at home, not Spanish.

Tenerife is too touristy with no possibility to really visit the cultural places in mainland Spain.

Madrid is really big, but nice.

Salamanca may be where you want to be, smaller city, full of students.

    Either Madrid or Salamanca

  7. I would choose Barcelona. So many things to see! Lovely place! Seeing Gaudi is a must.

  8. if you are intersted in modern arts visit barcelona

if you are intersted in persian islamic arts visit granada

if you are intersted in tropical areas visit tenerife

if you are intersted in spanish culture and language visit salamanca

  9. I would pick Madrid, it's a truly Spanish city, plus it's in the Middle of the Country so easier to visit other parts of the country. Lots of stuff to do in Madrid and great people there also.

  10. If you want to Learn Spanish , i would stick to Madrid.. I Live in Barcelona, and the official language is Catalan, then Spanish.. so you don´t want to get confused..  Valencia also has valenciano.. So I would Just stick to a Host Family in Madrid...

    Good Luck!

  11. Salamanca is the best place to learn Spanish..

In all  places other than Madrid, the host family may not speak Spanish at home or have non-standard accents.

Madrid is too big and impersonal and your host family could live far from the fun parts of the city.

  12. I vistited Spain last Spring Break. I would say either Barcelona or Granada. Barcelona:there was alot to do

Granada: is just soooo beautiful!!! and places to just admire the beauty.

Madrid is just a big city with a bunch of pretty fountains

Tenerife- is FULL of tourists. (not in a good way)
