  1. i prefer big cities, but tehran with the pollution is tooo much even for me. Shiraz is a little more laid back but there is quite a bit of development. Never been to esfahan, but i heard its not that much fun. So i say shiraz.

  2. Gosh what a hard decision. I vote for Isfahan because it seems the next most lively city apart from Tehran. Too bad they're so far apart from each other. If you want to be next to good shopping, most Iranian goods are made in Isfahan like the hammered plates, paintings. carpets and such. You can find those things much cheaper because you'll be buying directly from the source. Tehran is nice too, but I feel the crime rate is higher in Tehran than Isfahan or Shiraz.

  3. well I have visited all 3 but lived only in Tehran!  I would not never prefer Tehran over the rest. The night life shopping and lively places are everywhere but more in Tehran. But you gotta see what are you looking for more. If you like historical places and less crowded  places go for Shiraz and Esfahan. Shiraz is very hot during summer times but Esfahan is cooler. But during winter it doesnt snow in Shiraz and this is a dream place for those living in Iran. Yet I would say Tehran has much more of cool places but as Shirin said the crime rates are higher, more polluted city, more crowded, big time traffics and all what it takes to be a big city!

P.S. Its ghelyoon not gheyloon ;)

  4. I'd go with Isfahan, because I was born in Tehran and lived there for 10 years; and it's really cold at winter, but kinda nice at summer. It's also polluted, but it's getting better. But it's still colder than Isfahan, and well... really colder than Shiraz.
