Which city would be better for a Spanish language study abroad program in Spain? Madrid or Granada?

I am torn between the two cities because in Madrid I have close friends who I met on a previous trip to Spain. Also, my host family from that trip lives in Talavera de la Reina, a city about an hour outside of Madrid. I have been to Madrid, but I have never been to Granada. I feel that Granada has more culture than Madrid because Madrid is a melting pot of foreigners. Also, Granada is much smaller than Madrid and I would feel less intimidated. However, the Andalucian accent in Granada is somewhat more difficult to understand than the accent in Madrid. Which city would you suggest and why?

  1. I personally would go to Madrid, because i like big cities, because there is more to do and more people to meet and Granada as you said is much smaller than Madrid.

But thats my personal preference. It sounds like you want to go to Madrid for the people there, but as a place you would rather go to Granada.
