I just received word that I passed my Spanish credit by exam. Which means I can take a course in its place. I want to major in Physics/Astronomy and Mechanical Engineering.

This are the classes I'm going to take...

English IV

Ap Goverment/ Ap Economics

Art 2/ IPC

Ap Chemistry ( 2 year chemistry course)

Ap Physics C 2 ( 2 year physics course)

Ap Calculus AB

What other class shoud I take? Here are a few that I'm thinking of.

Ap Computer Science

Ap Biology ( 2 year biology course)

Ap Stats

Scientific Research Honors

  1. My votes go to everything but bio, but my top vote is for stats.  Here's why:

    1. Comp sci will be incredibly useful in your field.

    2. Scientific research looks AMAZING to college admissions boards.

    3. Stats is useful no matter what you major in.  Unlike comp sci, it's a bit tricky to learn on your own.  It'll help in your majors and it will also be useful if you, like a lot of people, change your mind.

  2. AP Computer Science is good

  3. Biology would be your best bet if you want to get your generals out of the way the fastest.  But be careful!  Those are a lot of hard classes.  I took that many AP classes my junior year and was completely burnt out.

  4. i would either take apcomp or apstats.

apcomp is really useful in that it really prepares you for courses that you'll need to take as a mechengineering major however, the aptest is very challenging and the course itself (depending on your school) is usually underfunded and is poorly taught (that was the case at my school)

ap stats won't really help you in your major of choice. the curriculem consists mostly of probability and logical thinking.  i took the apstats test and found it to be really easy.  depending on what year you're in, in highschool (im guessing it's your sophomore or junior year?), i would save apstatistics for your senior year, it's a very easy, light workload class in terms of preparing for the ap test.
