And Why do you prefer it?

Personally I like League better.

The game is twice the speed

there are more big hits

the players are more skillfull (In General)

the games seem more intense

the state of origin series are the greatest rugby spectacle ever witnessed

I bloody love rugby league, especially the Australian NRL competition.

  1. I good god union, I can't stand league.

Let me explain myself though, I love *playing* rugby, and I'm a prop. My entire job in rugby is rucks, mauls and scrums, and they just don't exist properly in league. The rucks are where the real action is; it's hard and bloody violent and much more exiting that it looks, but more importantly it's what I do, and league is bereft of the forward game I love.

I hate that you have to let the tackled bloke go, I love rushing in there, giving a bit of the boot and trying to nick the ball from the other side. It's a melee in there, and I always thought the lack of rucks in league was a bit soft.

Secondly, it is twice the speed, but union's bloody tiring at the best of times for us, and my limited experience of playing league consisted of me running round for half an hour not doing much, as I don't have the speed or stamina to keep up with play enough to do much. Maybe that's mostly my fault, but still.

Thirdly, there's no room in league for long periods of pressure on the opponents line, and in my view they're the tensest bit.

There probably are more big hits in league, but that's mostly due to that most of your play is open, and that's not to say there's a lack of big hits in union, and take my word for that union is more violent.

Neither would I say league is more skillful. The thing is in league there is more of an emphasis on what in union is simply and exclusively the back play, which is the open flashy hand work, etc. That might mean the players *look* more skillful, but that doesn't mean they are.

But, then again my opinion is biased in that I'm a southerner, and we just don't play league here, and that I'm a prop and union suits me down to the ground.

  2. I'm a Union fan, Come on England !!!

  3. Union is egg chasing for posh college boys,, League is egg chasing for the working man or kids too fat to play Football

  4. I'm a massive fan of union.. think there's more passion or something in it..

i agree that League is faster & the guys are fitter (prob better looking too!!) but i can't help it i just love Union!!

Ireland & Munster.. Can't beat them.. Passion never before seen.....Especially by the English.... Move over we're coming through!!!!!!!

  6. I can watch Union but the kicking can become intensly boring

    League

    Stronger

    Quicker

    More Aggression

    More Passion

    More Skillfull

    More Manly

    More exciting

the stuff dreams are made of - the chalenge cup is brilliant

and the national league is brilliant especially watching rugby league raw when the playoffs for promotion are happening

but im not that fussed because Im a fan of the best team in the land  - Bradford Bulls

  7. I prefer union cos its suits us bigger slow peeps better lol!!

    CMON GLOUCESTER AND OSPREYS!!!

  8. I AGREE WITH YOU MICK

  9. Union ,league is a training tool for union

  10. I play Union and obviously prefer it.

But, yeah, at the top level League players are more skillful and fitter in general, but that's only because you've been professional for so much longer.

  11. League is more like a training match, its just glorified touch rugby. Its certainly NOT got bigger hits as when players are tackled they just wiggle on the floor and that's it! Union is more rolling and continuous. As for league being more skillful, no! How much skill does it take to run, stop, repeat five times and let the other team do the same?

  12. I agree completely with Andy B. As a forward (Hooker) League is totally bereft of the forward pack action that I love, and the scrums, if they can be called scrums are a complete farce.

  13. too bloody right league is better come on the bulls

  14. Association
