  1. University of Maryland- College Park is one of your best bets for a great journalism education. The campus has its own television station and radio station operated by students which provides great experience if you are interested. As for newspaper, The Diamondback which is the daily student newspaper is one of the best in the country. The also have a ton of other publications including both newspapers and magazines. Being close to Baltimore and Washington D.C. provides endless opportunities for internships with major publications in the area. The career services department within the Merrill College of Journalism is consistently sending emails to students with job and internship opportunities. Employers are often looking for UMD students because they have more hands on experience as a result of the teaching style used in the college.

Maryland is a pretty big school but the College of Journalism is on of the smallest colleges within the university. This allows for more interaction with professors and more opportunities for students. The staff currently includes 6 or 7 Pulitzer Prize winners.

I choose this college over Syracuse, Penn State and NYU which are often compared with UMD. When it comes down to it a school like MIssouri definitely has a strong program but I feel that UMD's location gives you a big advantage for internships and job opportunities after college. If you have any questions send me a message.

  2. Mizzou

  3. Tons of them out there - Syracuse comes to mind immediately.
